Video Games Live last night was awesome. I went to the meet & greet and spoke with Tommy Tallarico, got his signature and thanked him for another great show. He told us to tell him what our favourite segment was and suggest additions to the set, so we told him the Chrono Cross/Trigger music was really fantastic and that we'd like some Grim Fandango, please. Apparently he's good friends with a lot of the veteran composers for the original Lucasarts games. He told me to search on youtube for videos of the Hollywood Bowl Video Games Live in September 2006. So I did and...I'm feverishly jealous of that crowd.



The second track always makes me shiver. It's so awesome.

Video is crappy, but audio is good enough to give you an idea. I'd kill to have been there for this, with Peter McConnell, Michael Land, and Clint Bajakian all playing the songs they composed for some of my most beloved games. It hurts knowing that the VGL gang have a Monkey Island segment prepared - but didn't play it this time. With over 60 segments for various companies and games, yet only enough time for around 12-15, there simply was no chance of it happening. Still, someone requested the Monkey Island theme when Martin Leung was up on stage playing the piano. I got a chance to thank him personally for making my night; he told me he'd really have rather played LeChuck's Theme and I wanted to hug him.

I really need to go and download the Outlaws soundtrack.

Only Christopher Walken could make this jumper look so amazing.

This is the latest art commission I did for an Aussie girl on Gaia. She was so pleased with it she gave me an extra gift. I'm really chuffed with how it turned out and I'll admit - it was kinda fun drawing something so twee.



This is the original avatar I was working from. She only stipulated that she wanted butterflies, the halo, the crown and the key present. I left out the staff since it'd ruin the pose and the wings because...it was extra effort.

We've been reading Sandman for my contemporary comics module. Although I've read bits and pieces before (The Dream Hunters and The Little Endless Storybook to be specific) I'd never dealt with the main series till now. I'm head over heels for Morpheus again, just as I was when I picked up my first Sandman comic - Gaiman's collaborative work with Yoshitaka Amano. He's so lovely and brooding and, atlhough dated, somehow timeless. Have an honourary glimpse at some of my favourite incarnations of him.

Anna and I are off to see UP, the new Pixar movie. As it's my first time going to see a 3D movie (aside from the old Disney park ones) I'm very excited. At £10 a ticket it had BETTER be bloody good. From all accounts it's a real tear-jerker. I'll probably cry like a little baby.

Our chocolate tasting box from Hotel Chocolat came today. To my wonder and awe it's actually an amalgamation of all the top-rated chocolates from last year's boxes. Which means some of my favourites from previous months are back! OH SINGLE MALT SMOOTHIE, YOU ARE SO WONDEROUS.

I am also very much looking forward to the chocolate tasting batons which ae infused with caramel. And look! They gave us a free sachet of hot chocolate.

Urrghh...I slept from 11am to 6pm.

And I feel terrible, because that's so out of my sleep pattern right now.

I'm gonna try to cook a cottage pie tonight. I've got nice quality mince, some potatoes and some carrots. It's party time. Party, party!

I made some butter icing and added some blue food dye to it. Then I added double cream to it, just to see what would happen. Then I put some self-raising flour in, 2 eggs and mixed it together. It made a batter that looked more like bread dough. Anna was asking me if I wanted to proof it. I stuck it in the oven for 20 minutes in two baking tins. I wholely expected something to come out on fire.

Still, Anna was literally made to eat her words when it turned out awesome.

This movie was awesome. At first I thought the alien cgi and make-up was a little dodgy, but it got progressively better as the film continued. It has some absolutely superb acting, particularly on the documentary sections. Hooray for thinly-veiled allegory!

Also, whenever the main character swore it sounded like "fook!".

Seriously, go and see it. Don't have reservations.

We bought our ratties a new cage today, and believe me it is kickass. It was mega cute watching them go crazy when we first put them in. It's got lots of ledges and a swinging wooden platform in the bottom section. The whole thing is double the size of the previous cage - I'm so glad we finally upgraded it for them. They deserve to have more room to run riot in.
